L'Arrache-CœurTattoo studio in Boucherville
Cooperative · Old Boucherville village
We tattoo what the heart refuses to let go.
The origin
A name borrowed from a novel
L’Arrache-cœur is Boris Vian’s final novel, published in 1953, six years before his death. It follows Clémentine, a mother whose love for her children becomes so complete that it threatens to wall off the world around them.
We borrowed the name because tattooing also works with memory. It takes a fragment of life — a face, a date, a loss, a word — and places it beneath the skin.
A tattoo is, in its own way, a means of keeping what we were afraid to lose and carrying that memory on the body.
“We only tear away what we want to keep.”
